Shukas are worn by the Maasai in East Africa.  It has become part of their new age identity. Traditionally they wore animal hides but after trade opened up with the rest of the world they swapped this traditional attire for cotton or acrylic Shukas. It is lightweight, versatile cloth commonly red but they do also come in more contemporary colours like greens, blues pinks and purple they are woven into checkered and striped designs. 

These make wonderful blankets, tablecloths, throws and clothing.
